Advance Capital is pleased to announce the sale of a 75% stake in GNC-Alfa, the largest independent backbone internet and data transmission operator in Armenia. The investor was Rostelecom.

GNC-Alfa owns a modern fiber-optic backbone network covering approximately 70% of the territory of the Republic of Armenia, with a total length exceeding 1,500 km. The company’s network is connected to the main regional backbone networks and major traffic exchange points, and also has international gateways connecting to Iran and Georgia. GNC-Alfa is the largest independent aggregator of national IP traffic and transit in the country.

Alexander Provotorov, President at Rostelecom:

“This deal represents Rostelecom’s first acquisition outside Russia as part of its international expansion strategy. Acquiring control over GNC-Alfa will allow Rostelecom to obtain a strong backbone infrastructure for offering broadband internet and digital TV services in the Armenian telecommunications market, which has significant growth potential.”

Advance Capital acted as the exclusive financial advisor to the shareholders of GNC-Alfa.

The deal value is USD22.5 million.
